Social Carbon Foundation Launches New Digital Portal to Streamline Carbon Project Certification
Innovative Portal Digitises Key Methodologies and the Project Description Document Process, providing market leading Carbon Project Transparency and Efficiency
October 28, 2024
Social Carbon Foundation is excited to announce the launch of the beta phase of its innovative SOCIALCARBON Portal, a robust digital platform designed to streamline and modernise the certification process for carbon offset projects. This new portal marks a significant advancement in the industry by digitising all SOCIALCARBON methodologies and revolutionising the Project Description Document (PDD) process.
Through the SOCIALCARBON Portal, project developers can now easily upload project details directly to the platform, where an auto-generated PDD PDF provides a clear and comprehensive outline of each project’s specifics. This new feature not only improves the efficiency of project documentation but also ensures a higher level of accuracy and transparency.
“Launching the SOCIALCARBON Portal is a major step forward in our commitment to sustainability and efficiency in the carbon certification process,” said Mike Davies, CEO at Social Carbon Foundation. “By digitising methodologies and simplifying project documentation, we’re making it easier for project developers to achieve certification while enhancing the overall credibility and transparency of the certification process.”
The SOCIALCARBON Portal represents a forward-thinking approach to carbon certification, aligning with the organisation’s mission to empower projects focused on sustainable development and climate resilience.
The portal offers several key benefits, including:
Digitisation of Methodologies: All SOCIALCARBON methodologies are now available in a digital format, ensuring consistency and accessibility; all applicability conditions, carbon pools, emission sources, equations, data and parameters have been digitised to expedite the project design document process.
Automated PDD Generation: An automated process for Project Description Documents allows for quicker submission, reducing administrative time for project developers.
Enhanced Transparency and Accessibility: The platform provides a central location to record and store data/documentation, providing market leading transparency.
Looking forward, Social Carbon Foundation’s roadmap for the portal includes additional innovations:
Publicly Accessible Digital PDDs: Aiming for transparency, all PDDs will be accessible to the public, allowing stakeholders to review project data easily.
Digitised Monitoring Reports: Comprehensive monitoring reports will be fully digitised for ease of project tracking.
VVB Dashboard for Certification: A specialised dashboard will streamline the certification process, providing Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) with intuitive tools to assess and verify project details efficiently.
