Description.
This methodology presents a procedure for determining the annual removal of CO2 from the atmosphere by areas of native vegetation located on private properties in Brazil. It was conceived based on understanding of the genuine contribution by such areas to the annual removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. In view of its particularity, the methodology applies to AFOLU projects, more specifically to the Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR) project category. The eligible area of the project corresponds to "managed primary formations" and "managed secondary formations" of native vegetation, arising from anthropogenic GHG removals activities, which includes human-assisted natural regeneration on legally declared private property, independent of any legal instruments for mandatory or voluntary environmental conservation.
